Joe Calarco

Called “a theater man of imagination and vision” by the New York Times, Joe Calarco is a multi-award winning, playwright and director whose work has been seen throughout the country and around the world. He is the winner of 4 Helen Hayes awards (Assassins, Urinetown, Side Show, Nijinsky’s Last Dance) as well as two Barrymore Awards (The Light in the Piazza, Ordinary Days), along with a Berkshire Theatre Critic’s Award (Waiting for Godot), and the Lucille Lortel Award for his play Shakespeare’s R&J. He served as Director of New Works at the Tony Award winning Signature Theatre, was resident playwright at Expanded Arts, Inc. and a Joseph Papp artist in residence at Second Stage, is one of New York Theatre Workshop’s “usual suspects,” and is a Drama League directing fellow.

This is his third show with HBT following Next To Normal and American Psycho with Falsettos still to come this summer.
